Indeed. It was certainly the result of some obscure kernel bug which has just
been fixed on DragonFly

This is the sort of failure I was seeing:

x11/libXt failed to build on SMP DragonFly machines up to (at least) the
kernel from v2.8.2-RELEASE
With DragonFly v2.8.2.3.gfcdf2-RELEASE, I can no longer reproduce the build
failure.
