How about setting:
 PKG_OPTIONS.cairo= -xcb
in mk.conf, or build using
 PKG_DEFAULT_OPTIONS=-xcb bmake

(For what it is worth, I have never been able to find a way to compile
firefox on solaris in pkgsrc... I use the binary packages supplied by
mozilla.)
