 Can't you just set the GS_LIB environment variable, using
 a wrapper or your .profile, to have your initialization files
 found before the %rom% version?
 I just did a little experiment:
 
 cp /usr/pkg/share/ghostscript/8.71/Resource/Init/gs_init.ps /tmp
 modified /tmp/gs_init.ps
 GS_LIB=3D/tmp gs
 
 and its behavior clearly showed that the modified gs_init was used.
 
 So you could try the same with cidfmap.
