OK, but even without the builtin %rom% filestore it would need
more tricks to find your "cidfmap" etc first. The first entry
in the search path would be ...ghostscript/8.71/Resource/Init
then, and this still belongs to the ghostscript installation.
Changing a file belonging to an installed pkg would be bad style
at least (there are checksums maintained by the pkg system).
So you'd need more options for the "ghostscript" pkg if you
don't want to modify GS_LIB.

agreed, but if the option had an effect which would it make usable
also for other people wanting to customize ghostscript (and
a self-explaining name) it would be better
