This patch works for me:
bootstrap/bootstrap; line 672: insert after this line
machine_arch=uname -p | sed -e 's/i86pc/i386/'
these 3 lines
if [ $abi"x" = 64"x" ]; then
machine_arch=uname -p | sed -e 's/sparc/sparc64/g'
fi
I compiled a lot of packages without any issues.
