I've finally observed my first failure on a non-x86 platform
(NetBSD/macppc-7.99.39):

While running 'pkg_rolling-replace' "devel/gobject-introspection" failed
to build with:

The failure occurs in the same place as on x86 hosts (and in the same
library reported by a backtrace on i386) but slightly different as x86
just segfaults instead of reporting an error.
I suppose this means I'll need to try again using a TNF snapshot, but
if it's like x86, I'll have to wipe out all packages and start from
scratch.
I'm stumped as far as figuring out why my local release builds provoke
this behavior, but TNF snapshots (on x86 at least) do not. I've recently
rebuilt everything from completely empty DEST/obj/RELEASE directories and
the result doesn't change.
Perhaps I shall have to scratch out space to set up one of my sparc64
boxen (ancient Ultra-5) and test there too.
