Yes, Arch defines CPPFLAGS="-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2" in /etc/makepkg.conf.

T think now this patch will be more relevent (if it works):
- $CPP $CPPFLAGS
+ $CPP $CPPFLAGS -U_FORTIFY_SOURCE
