Jove's 'shell' command is supposed to create a window, allocate a
pty and start a shell therein. Instead, it creates the window and
prints "[Out of ptys!]" on jove's main status/manual command line.
NOTE 1: 'screen' does not seem to have this issue.
NOTE 2: Also fails for the super-user, so it is not a permissions
problem.

jove (filename optional)
