Exactly.  Arguing semantics over whatever feels historically right will mean
jack to Joe Average User that just wants his stuff to work.  And refering to
a specific version of a tool to said user in order to answer his question
why it does not work makes a lot of support people happy.

Also, unless someone comes up with an ingenious way that allows a system
administrator to see what changed between pkg version X and Y without email
or cvs logs you cannot make it easier to note a change in fixing breakage.
Of course, on the same stretch you could argue that a system administrator
shouldn't be updating his pkgs without knowing *exactly* what changed in the
first place.  And so on...

(For those who never get beyond programming: try helping out on IRC channels
and you quickly understand what I mean.)
