Generally, pkgsrc does has a notion that we should only use proper
releases, such that packaging something else requires a good reason.

However, this gets difficult, because the corresponding notion that
every upstream should have timely, stable, stable releases, and
basically never be in a situation where users are told "the release is
old; run this insetad" is not universally folllowed.  This is often the
good reason...
