I've started porting PulseAudio <http://www.pulseaudio.org>, as it's
eventually going to replace esound for GNOME and other applications.
I also am in need of some kind of lower-latency audio server. It
supports jack and can speak esound, so at the very least I can have it
act as esd and send the audio to jackd.
If anyone wants to work on this, please let me know.
--Fix shared memory access code: they do not support shmat() et. al.
--Implement scheduler activations for NetBSD: this would be great
--possibly get solaris module working on NetBSD for /dev/audio: as of
now only the ossaudio output works, and that's a bit of a hack
--Fix dynamic module detection: I don't know why, but this is broken
--Add pulse user/group in Makefile
--Fix PLIST generation
--Use SUBST_* macros where appropriate
--Use CONF_FILES framework
--And more.
I'm not an experienced developer, but I think if given enough time, I
could probably do most of this myself. It would be much better if
anyone wished to contribute, though.
Regards,
--Blair
