Do any of the packages that mplayer depends on still link
against native X11?

$ cd /usr/pkg/lib; grep usr/X11R6 *.so*

For all matches, check the .so with ldd(1) to see if it was a false
positive. Moving away /usr/X11R6 shouldn't cause grief, in fact I'd
recommend doing that.
