Re: Rendering issues

I don't use thunderbird, but use Firefox heavily and I've noticed severe
delays in rendering page elements up to and including outright failure to
render a page that was refreshed.

The YouTube is the most egregious example taking tens of seconds to
respond to mouse buttons or keypresses. When a video's page is displayed,
it remains mostly blank the progress bar at the top goes to about 75% and
stays there indefinitely. Only reloading the page forces it to complete.

Playing a video only buffers a few seconds and even then the player will
only play about 10 seconds and freeze for 30 seconds, not even showing
the spinning wait widget. Again, any interaction incurs a delay of 10s
of seconds before a response. If you pause a video an then resume, it
jumps back well before the point at which you told it to pause to begin
playing again. When scrolling through comments, tt will "forget" where
the page has scrolled to so a subsequent mouse click is either ignored
or activates the wrong widget.

Channel banners will sometimes flash, or if a channel has no banner,
the banner from a previously-viewed channel will flash in the space.

I've rolled back to the most recent firefox-esr (128.x) and I don't
get the flashing banners anymore, but the general sluggishness which
degrades over time remains.

Used to not have any problems like this not that long ago, so I'm
not so sure the problem is entirely with FireFox. There were some
memory-usage changes pulled up recently (I forget whether before or
after 10.1 was released) so I'm wondering if those have something
to do with it. I'm running 10.1_STABLE everywhere.
