Under NetBSD/x86 dev=/dev/rcdXY is enough. At least it works for me.

Under Linux 'cdrecord -scanbus' show nothing if ide-scsi module
is NOT loaded. AFAIK it is(was?) broken in 2.6 kernel and doesn't work.
dev=ATAPI:X.Y.Z is seems to work under Linux but
'cdrecord -scanbus' doesn't help.
