In the main download page of ffmpeg, besides the repository, are the packages (extracted from the repository) ready to download (bare nightly sources), so this way the package doesn't have to deal with subversion logins. The hard life is for putting the right version (dated) on the name of the package, and checking the date of the package, as it comes with the same name, everytime. The date of the package comes in the main directory (packaged). So it needs to ckeck inside the package to fetch the date. It checks also the date of the package in ${DISTDIR}. > > Most of the work to check is in the TODO file, it seems to build ok, and now > > I'm using it and behaves fine. > > I tried building on 4.99.5/amd64, and it failed in the configure > step because the "compiler can't create executables". config.err contains: > gcc -O2 -I/usr/pkg/include -fomit-frame-pointer -march=i686 -c -o > /tmp/ffmpeg-co > nf--18261-.o /tmp/ffmpeg-conf--18261-.c > /tmp/ffmpeg-conf--18261-.c:1: error: CPU you selected does not support x86-64 > in > struction set > /tmp/ffmpeg-conf--18261-.c:1: error: CPU you selected does not support x86-64 > in > struction set The package comes with the options mmx and i386 by default; I think that must be changed, even with loss of optimization. -- César Catrián Carreño
