No matter what combination of source and assembler I try, nothing
seems to swallow __KERNEL_RCSID and __KERNEL_COPYRIGHT macros.
They seem to produce ".section ..." directives which GNU as reports
as unknown pseudo-ops.  If these are supposed to work, could someone
for whom they do work clue me in as to what I want to get (from current
and 1.2 release)?

Editing them out by hand is convenient, but somehow it feels so wrong :).
