I have a hacked version of wss running without the bus_dma code
on a multia (the isa dma has 2 address extension registers for
32 bit addresses). 8kHz mono is ok, but CD quality does not
really work (the sound chip has underruns all the time). Seems
that without lower interrupt latency (i.e. reprogramming the
interrupt controller as it is done on i386 hardware to extend
the number of interrupt levels) it is not possible to run at
higher rates than 8kHz. 

By the way, is full duplex audio possible with the multias, or
is it half duplex only. The sound chip is full duplex capable,
but are both dma req pins connected to the dma device?
