I'm currently trying to get a Jensen to do a BOOTP boot.
Sofar, I can only get it to do a MOP boot:
>>> sho dev
BOOTDEV ADDR DEVTYPE RM/FX DEVNAM REV NUMBYTES
------- ---- ------- ----- ------ --- --------
EZ0A 08-00-2B-36-86-0C
FD0 PC Floppy DISK RM
SCSI Devices..
DKA100 A/1/0 DISK FX RZ28 442C 2.10GB
DKA200 A/2/0 DISK FX RZ28B 0006 2.10GB
HOST A/7/0 PROC AHA1742A G.2
>>> boot era0
INIT-S-CPU...
AUDIT_BOOT_STARTS ...
AUDIT_BOOT_REQ
<< fails, no MOP server responds >>
<< tcpdump spying on the wire from a FreeBSD box tells me:
21:36:12.082577 8:0:2b:36:86:c > ab:0:0:1:0:0 sap aa ui/C len=35

<< etc >>
Stupid enough the system is in OSF console mode:
>>> show os_type
OS_TYPE = OSF
>>>
but wants a BOOT ERA0 (a VMS named device) to start a boot at all.
If I try BOOT EZ0A (see the SHOW DEVICE listed before) I immediately
get a failure:
>>> boot ez0a
INIT-S-CPU...
AUDIT_BOOT_STARTS ...
84 FAIL
>>>
with EZ0A the OSF/Dunix name like listed in SHOW DEVICE. tcpdump shows me
nothing in this case.
According to the
manual/relnotes that come with the Firmware CDROM it should be possibe
to BOOTP a Jensen using the BOOT EZ0A command.
But no cigar... :/
Comments are more than welcome, I've sort-of lost track here.
