back to my problem with samba... anway i recompiled with
-DAXPROC and made sure that it didnt try to include termio.h
and the build went smoothly and everything worked as expected

without the -DAXPROC i had problems with name resolution and
long timeout periods...

anyway, just trying to pass info along...
