Not sure on what is happening there, though once you get to be able
to build a new kernel, you can set the root to be on wd0 then.

Did you read the man page for adduser?     If not, do.   If you did,
read it again.   Pay particular attention to the first few sentences,
and then read all of it.

Nothing else that is part of the standard installation, and in binary form.

All of the sources are available, look wherever you got your distribution
from (ftp, cd, whatever), where the binaries came from the "alpha"
sub-directorty, you'll find a siblink of alpha "sources".  All the
sources are in there.  Use tar or pax to unpack them.   You almost
certainly want the kernel sources (sys.tgz) and package sources
(pkgsrc.tgz) - unless you want to be able to recompile the world,
or just like having the sources around, you probably don't really
need the others.
