This sounds like if "server" is "ON", it would not perform the checks
   for the keyboard/display.  I don't know if this is applicable to the
   3000/300 though.


on my /400, with server being "on" it still performed the checks, didn't
find them, but they did not cause the boot to fail.  the only difference
in what was displayed was later after the tests were performed: either
boot attempt, or failure message and \n\n>>> prompt.  ie, it seems that
the keyboard and mouse can be missing IFF server is "on".
