And immediately after complaining about SRM v5.5's "funky" behavior 
driving a DE500-BA (21143-PC) talking to an FDX switch, I find the 
following admission in the SRM v5.6's release notes:

"Bug fix to the Ethernet driver Fast Full Duplex Mode for the DE500-BA"

I think it's time for me to upgrade SRM...
