Not just that, but specific to Alpha, or something.  I pound on these
quite heavily under NetBSD/i386 without any trouble.

I have some spares, and when I have time (ha!), I'll throw one into my
AlphaServer and take a look.

...but if someone else wants to help track it down, that would be A-OK
with me :-)
