Isn't it possible in some cases to use the libffm of Joachim Wesner and
Kazushige Goto, which to my knowledge is exactly "an assembly version
of libm for the Alpha" ? The problem is that it is GPLd. With recent
introduction of the Compaq CPML library which is considered to be
faster for most things, the need to have the libffm is over. Maybe it's
a good situation to talk with these guys and ask to relax their licence
(I hope).
