Hi all,
I've got a Jensen (AXP 150), and I want to install NetBSD/alpha on
it. Well, I downloaded the today's snapshot (1.5ALPHA2 from
22.09.2000) and dded the cdhdtape image from my AlphaServer 400 (running
NetBSD 1.4.2) to a MO-Drive. Why MO-Drive? Because that's the only thing
beside CD and HDD the Jensen will boot from.
It loads the Primary boot, then the kernel. No Problem so far. But then it
hangs after displaying:
ahb0: at eisa0 slot 6: Adaptec AHA-1742A SCSI
ahb0: interrupting at eisa irq 12
scsibus0: at ahb0: 8 targets, 8 luns per target
isa0: at jensenio0
vga0 at isa0 port 0x3b0-0x3df iomem 0xa0000-0xbffff
wsdisplay0 at vga0
fdc0 at isa0 port 0x3f0-0x3f7 irq 6 drq 2
fd0 at fdc0 drive 0: 1.44 MB, 80 cyl, 2 head, 18 sec
That's the end of the game. Possible reasons are, that I have a too old
SCSI Controller Firmware Revision. I have (so says a >>> show device) G.
All DEC Operating Systems (OSF/1, Digital Unix, Tru64 Unix, OpenVMS) need
G.2 . Does NetBSD need this revision, too?
I got stuck on the wsdisplay0 at vga0 message, too, as I'm running it over
a serial console. If I attach a Monitor to the VGA Port I just see Console
on Serial Port 1 running (or something like that).
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Which firmware revisions do you have?
If the problem is related to the firmware revision, does anyone have a
spare AHA-1742A?
Or can I flash-update this firmware.
Many many thanks in advance

Freddy
