Make sure that you have just the lx164srm.rom (or some filename like that)
on the MSDOS formatted floppy, and *not* fwupdate.exe, then update the
NVRAM from inside AlphaBIOS (Update Firmware). It should see the SRM ROM
on the floppy, and copy it over, wiping out your old AlphaBIOS.
Make sure you know your SRM syntax before you wipe it, though, as going
back is nontrivial!
