just for grins, I built xsrc with -O2 and put the resulting release sets in

	ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/alpha/xsets-optimized/

I tried a handful of the clients and they worked fine.
my alpha is headless so I didn't try the server,
could someone try that and let me know if it works or not?
