??? You never used a MicroVAX II! A DEC 3000 machine is fast as
lightening! I use my AlphaStation 200 (comparable in speed) for normal
workstation. Reading / writing mail, netscaping (I use the Alpha-Linux
version), LaTeXing, developing software, ....
OK. You should not bother the machine with bloated stuff like KDE or
GNOME. If you wane software toys like that, go and by toy hardware.
(i.e. multi GHz PeeCee with multi GB RAM.) But these toys will never
be as robust and reliable as a DEC 3000.
