Hi all,
I'm interested in getting an apparently long-standing bug fixed for
PMAD-AA TurboChannel Ethernet adapters in DEC model 3000/300 Alpha
workstations. This bug is documented here:
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/netbsd-bugs/2000/05/18/0003.html
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-alpha/1996/11/01/0000.html
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-alpha/1996/11/04/0000.html
and it seems it's never been fixed, undoubtedly due to low demand.
I'm not much of a driver/kernel hacker, but I think in
syssrc/sys/dev/dec/if_le_dec.c the delay loop in le_dec_writereg
isn't allowing the register to settle down during initialization
of the hardware. 10000 loops seems like plenty to a non-kernel
coder like me, so something else may be amiss in accessing the
chipset on these PMAD-AA TC cards? I haven't the foggiest where
to start tracking this problem down, however.
I have a DEC 3000/300X that I'm willing to donate to someone who can
work on this problem. I'll also donate at least 64MB of RAM (more
if needed) along with S&H. If anyone would like this hardware
and is willing to work on this support, please contact me privately
at csigler@vt.edu and I'll get in touch with you. Thanks for
listening :^)
