OK, applied your patches.gz to -current (13/7) source,
recompiled, booted and provoked the bug by compiling
the kernel...

didn't show anything new:

sd0(isp0:0:0:0): generic HBA error
isp0: unable to load dma (22)

that's all.
I really would like to have this bug fixed.
Preferrably for 1.6 already.  It really disables
the use of NetBSD with a PWS with >=1Gig installed.
Which probably isn't what anybody would like.
I'd hate to take 1Gig out of the box, or install
some other system (like FreeBSD/i386 probably,
or OSF^WTru64; I'd rather install some other system
than take out memory.)
Anybody's got some ideas?
In the present condition I'd call the PWS unsupported
by NetBSD.
