You might want to try www.monitorworld.com to check what kind of tube
is inside.

Which means it wants seperate H/V-Sync instead of Sync-on-Green.
Actually, I always had the problem in the other direction.  Good that old
Matrox cards can generate SoG.

Just connect the three BNC-chords and try it.  Either the video logic
supports Sync-on-Green (I hooked up my 3000 to a modern 19-inch CRT and it
worked) or it does not, in that case you will not get a steady picture.
I know that there are Sync-on-Green-_generator_ circuits out there, but
the other way around I am not sure, though it should be possible.
One other thing could be that the 3000 does 1280x1024@76Hz (IIRC, or was
it 71Hz?), which some older CRTs cannot handle, the GDM-1960 for example.
I don't think you can break anything, at least I did not at all my
expriments, but no gurantees.

So far I got every old CRT I got to work on the computer I wanted it to
work on.  Sun 13W3 plugs are a pain, though.  But a Sun GDM-20E20 is
just a nice screen...
