Subject: buggeroo in install script at ftp setup section?????

Sadly, in both sparc, and alpha 1.6U I get seg faults and
core dumps when trying to do an ftp install.  Is this something
endemic to the installer or particular to these hardwares?
Is there a fix somewhere?  I am able to cd install the sets
though, but that shoots one in the foot trying to install from
a central server.  Any insights or suggestions are kindly
appreciated.
