Flip the "S3" switch on the back of the machine. That's all. The kernel
will detect the console device used by the firmware and adjust itself
accordingly.
Thanks Jochen, but unfortunately that doesn't work for me.
When S3 is down, the machine boots and everything looks good until
the login: prompt, but then the console stops responding, however
the machine is accessible via the network.
This is with -current built from CVS sources updated on 17 August 2004.
I'm using a Macintosh as the serial console, which I guess must be
the root of the problem, but it's curious because it works fine when
talking to SRM and also gave no trouble back in the days when the
default behaviour of the kernel was to only use a serial console.
When netbooting, the console stops responding at this line:
Terminal type? [vt100]
Do you have any suggestions?
