I can try another card, I suppose...but the card works well in an i386 box. (^&
I didn't try booting with a -current i386 CD. That might also show some interesting
results.
The 1.6 NetBSD/i386 boot hangs in "swapper" if memory serves. (The video card
that I was using for it is not a spare. I haven't quite decided what to do about
a card for this thing. I was thinking about getting a nicer card for the
older 32-bit AMD machine and putting the PCI card in the AMD64 at least until
I've got basic issues worked out on the AMD64.)
I'd rather try a serial console before another card, first. If I uncomrent the
line in INSTALL about forcing a serial console, build a release, and make a
bootable CD as for i386 (but specifying the amd64 dir, instead), will that make a
bootable CD with a serial console?
If it makes a difference (my understanding is that it shouldn't), the CPU is
an "Athlon 64" not an Opteron. The motherboard is a Gigabyte K8N Pro, with
nVidia nForce 3 chipset.
