Here, too -- firefox no longer dies.

For tech-toolchain: there is a PIC compiler bug in gcc-3.3.x for x86_64 targets
that causes mozilla/firefox to die.  The PR contains a two-liner that makes
the problem go away.  The notes in gcc bugzilla seem to indicate that it will
not be applied: the problem is not present in 3.4.x, and they recommend that
3.3.x users use the hammer branch rather than the main branch.

It would certainly be nice to have a working web browser for the 2.0 release ...
would it be proper to commit the patch as included in the PR and request a
pullup?
