ACPI on HP NC4400

Hi.

Regarding the earlier discussion of ACPI suspend/resume -testing late last 
year, 
here are some results obtained on HP Compaq NC4400 (amd64, current 4.99.49, 
GENERIC, 
MP; full dmesg attached). 

With 'sysctl -w machdep.sleep_state=3':

acpi0: entering state 3
Devices without power management support: pcppi1
acpi0: aborting susped

So without pcppi, the suspend works but does not resume: the screen does not 
come 
back. The suggested command for testing, 'vbetool post', does not help. Nor 
does 
'sysctl -w machdep.acpi_vbios_reset=0'. The only option is to power off the 
laptop due apparent hang. States one and two did not result anything.

The interesting thing is that the screen goes blank and does not resume even if 
I 
simply close the lid. In this case 'vbetool post' brings the screen back. 
Normal 
'vbetool dpms on/off' works as expected. (No X involved.)

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly for production use, the system does not 
seem 
to generate any ACPI events, hence rendering powerd more or less useless. The 
'envstat -d acpiacad0' results still 'ON' when AC is plugged off. But when 
booted 
with batteries, envstat does report 'OFF' for acpiacad. The values for 
batteries 
seem to be correct.

If nothing else, the Wiki-page could be updated.
