Re: a browser that runs?

I've three 7.0 systems running, all with the same /usr/X11R7/lib/libXext.so.7

browser, but now I have a custom application that needs to call a
system browser.
I could move them up to 8.x, but if the same problem is there I will
have had a significant disruption at a very busy time.
Any words of wisdom (or consolation)?
My work station is an AMD phenom (roughly 9 years old), running a
-current kernel (8.99.36) on -8 userland and pkgsrc X, and (at least)
with www/firefox I couldn't be happier.
With modernish GUI applications, the further away your X11 is from
bleeding edge, the rockier the ride... I'd say you will definitely want
to run -8 for an X server machine, or, if you absolutely need to stick
with -7 (*), switch to modular (i.e. pkgsrc) X11. Otherwise, maybe stick
with www/firefox52.
You've got your work cut out for you. ;)
Cheerio,

(*) Is that netbsd-7 on your machine,, or actually 7.0.x? ISTR there
were compatibility issues between -7 and -7-n, and -current pkgsr cis
probably built against -7...
