Hi,

I believe it is a good idea to rebuild kernel without nouveau and
nouveaufb support and try to boot it to fully rule out nouveau
influence.
(that's seems to be one of the differences between netbsd-7 and
netbsd-8, nouveau/nouveaufb were disabled by default)

I've seen you tried to use "userconf disable nouveau*", but maybe it
didn't work for some reason, or nouveaufb still kicked in...

Searching around, there might be some issues with the specific mac
model nvidia card
e.g. https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Apple/MacBookPro/7-1#Black_screen_fix_.28EFI_mode.29
but myself I can't draw any conclusions out of it, or if it is
affecting NetBSD and your observed issue in any way.
