Compiling Kernel

Sorry I don't have the original/reply to follo up to

The error message following 'make' occurs after loads and loads of
compilation with:

Cc: Internal compiler error: program cc1 got fatal signal 11

This was happening to me several months ago but ISTR that I changed the
command format in some way and the compilation ran to completion?
