Would it be possible to use some newer version of NetBSD?
Preferably 4.0 beta? The answer to your problem would be a lot
easier with newer versions, IIRC.

You may want to search the mailing lists for "cloning devices", and re-ask
your question on tech-kern, since it is not arm specific.
