Video players on RPI2 NetBSD 8.0_RC1

I am trying to get a media player work on RPI2 NetBSD 8.0_RC1 on native
x11.

I am not much in need of HD / acceleration etc. at least as yet, when I am
struggling to get any video to work.

Tried: mplayer, mpv and omxplayer.

None of them is working. I can share more details on what "not working"
(errors etc). But before that I'd like to know if anyone is successfully
using any media player on RPI2 / equivalent on 8.0_RC1 / a nearby version.
