End result...

NetBSD 7.0 binaries from earm, i.e from:

http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/earm/7.0/All/

work fine... hurrah.

The confusion was all caused by being convinced that I needed earmv7hf since 
the BCM53019 spec mentions that instruction set. And also some ld.elf_so and 
other libs on the box were not from the earm base.tgz set.

So the TimeCapsule / Airport that Apple sold as the last model (the vertical 
one) does run NetBSD 6.0 in eabi "mode" and runs earm binaries from NetBSD 
7.0 fine.
