It has ever since I started using it.  If you aren't using magic
cookies, I strongly suggest that you start.

I use xdm, so I removed the following lines from
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config:

DisplayManager._0.authorize:  false
DisplayManager*authComplain:  false

Anyone know what they were doing there in the first place?

I've no idea how to enable cookies when using startx.  Anyone?
