I borrowed a SCSI-2 terminator today, and this resulted in
the boot procedure getting hung too, but on a different
place, i.e. 2 lines more output:
sfasintr:SCSI-RESET detected!sfasintr:...
...SET detected!sfasintr:SCSI-
So: yes, your advice removed 1 bug, to uncover another... :-]
