  Hi,

   I can't start xconsole as a user. I always get the error "Couldn't 
open console".

  I've tried everything.  Making it suid and sgid root, making 
/dev/console (the only thing I could think of) world read/writeable and 
still nothing works!

  The only way I can start it is by 'su'ing to root.

  Help please!
