Hi,
recently I installed RiscBSD on a SA110 based RPC. After some trouble with
wrong kernels (no IDE support) I got the system working, *but*
I can not get dip working !
I copied the configuration files (hosts, resolv.conf, rc, rc.local) from my
correct working machine to the new one and did a reboot. Everything seemed
to be ok. I started dip and it has made the connection to our slipserver. A
short test with netstat showed that the network was configured the right way.
netstat output:
Routing tables
Internet:
Destination Gateway Flags Refs Use Mtu Interface
default 139.20.221.253 UGS 0 8 - sl0
localhost localhost UH 1 24 - lo0
139.20.221.253 139.20.221.108 UH 1 0 - sl0
But nevertheless ping (and all other network stuff) reports after this a
'sendto: No route to host'. Even the gateway 139.20.221.253 (the other end
of the dialup line) is not reacheable.
The same test on my (running) system brought the same output but there it
works. (?????)
The system I installed RBSD on is a RPC700, ROS 3.7, 32MB DRAM, Fireball
2,5GB.
I remember there were some problems with the dial up connections in the
early days of v1.2, but I forgot how they were fixed. AFAIK I installed all
patches (12-1, 12-2, 12-3).
Does someone has an idea what I missed or did wrong or how to fix this
problem ?
Thanks and
Ciao, Peter
