[Warning New User]
I've just attempted to install the release of Risc BSD
from the Acorn Developers CD on to a 270M Syquest
Cartridge hanging off a PowerTec SCSI card - I know
has to be the worst combination ever, but a 4G IDE
drive is on the way.
My machine detials:-
Processor: SA-110/202.4
RISC OS : 3.70
Memory : 50M
Interface: PowerTec SCSI, H/W 1.01, S/W 1.56
Network : Atomwide 10Base2 NIC
Risc BSD Setup:-
Root filesystem: sd0a
Kernel : vinst
!BtRiscBSD : As supplied except root file sys
Problem:-
I have set the Syquest cartrige up as a 10M Risc OS partition
and the rest Empty. I have also low level formatted since the
first try as the DISC was DOS for a time. The bb_riscbsd
program was not run.
I have followed the Risc BSD install through setting up the
SCSI sd0 disc sizes correcting for the file core shape of
100 sec/track and using the Risc BSD reported 83 sec/track,
giving a size of 3017 cylinders at offset 123. I allocated 2400
cylinders to the root partition and 617 (50M) to the swap.
It then went on to run disklabel and the following message
was given, followed by no further activity until I gave up
after 10 mins and hit ^C.
Labeling disk sd0...Found RiscIX partition table @ 000000000
sd0: no disk label
I repeated this twice and got the same after a low level format
of the drive.
-
Is it worth trying out this setup or waiting until I have the
4G IDE on the internal ADFS?
Cheers
---Dave
