Hardware

RPC 600 upgraded to RiscOS 3.7 SA
NetBSD reports bugged STM^ instruction on boot up.

Procedure that I followed to install X

(1) Download the x11 files from ftp.NetBSD.org
directory /pub/NetBSD/arch/arm32/RPC_X11R6.3/
x11base.tgz x11fonts.tgz x11man.tgz x11manc.tgz x11prog.tgz xarm33.tgz

Had to use RiscOS on the RPC for that.

(2) Move these into /usr/disrtib using unixfs
mkdir /usr/X11R6
ln -s /usr/X11R6 /usr/X11R6.3

as indicated in the VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:
ls -l /usr
drwxr-xr-x   6 ireland  wheel   512 Sep  5 04:05 X11R6
lrwxr-xr-x   1 ireland  wheel     5 Sep  5 04:02 X11R6.3 -> X11R6
..[snippity snip] ...

(3) Extract the X sets
gzip -d /usr/distrib/x11base.tgz
tar xpf /usr/distrib/x11base.tar
etc with all the archives
x11base.tgz x11fonts.tgz x11man.tgz x11manc.tgz x11prog.tgz xarm33.tgz

(4) Create the /etc/ld.so.conf file
ls -l /etc
..[snippity snip] ...
-rw-r--r--  1 ireland  wheel        30 Sep  5 04:22 ld.so.conf
..[snippity snip] ...
to read
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/local/lib
I also tried that as /usr/X11R6.3/lib

(5) Tried to startx with
startx

Unfortunately I just get
/usr/libexec/ld.so: xinit: libXmu.so.6.0: No such file or directory

I know these files are there
/usr/libexec/ld.so is there
ls -l /usr/libexec/ld.so
-rwxrwxrwx  1 bin  bin  65536 May 21 16:18 /usr/libexec/ld.so

xinit is there
ls -l /usr/X11R6/bin/xinit
-rwxr-xr-x  1 ireland  wheel  16384 Oct 26  1997 /usr/X11R6/bin/xinit

libXmu.so.6.0 is there
ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6.0
-rw-r--r--   1 ireland  wheel  107874 Oct 26  1997 libXmu.so.6.0

ireland:*:0:0:Mr Adrian &:/usr/ireland:/bin/csh
path	(/sbin /usr/sbin /usr/local/sbin /bin /usr/bin /usr/local/bin /usr/X11R6/bin /usr/X11R6/lib /usr/libexec)

Probably I have alot of editing to do in /etc
This is a new set up straight from teh NetBSD site and the documentation
refers to other files in /etc
The only one I have changed is the rc.conf file.
