as --version; if it says 2.8.1, fetch
ftp.netbsd.org:/pub/NetBSD/arch/arm32/as.working and install as /usr/binas
before rebuilding.

(Be happy, though, as you can enable toolchain on arm32 now.  The
appropriate parts--c++rt0, ld, and ld.aout_so--have been temporarily
disabled in the public tree right now.)
