The bootloader does mess around with the page tables quite
extensively. I think you would have to have to ask Mark Brinicombe
for the precise details, but I suspect that all the fiddling about
is necessary to keep RISC OS alive until the NetBSD kernel is in a
state to take over. In my experience, touching anything that RISC
OS is using just leads to a crash.
